What Are Veneers?
Veneers are thin shells made of specific materials, bonded to the outer (visible) surface of the teeth. They are usually applied to the upper and lower front teeth—incisors and canines—which are visible when you smile.
By covering the visible surface of the natural teeth, veneers correct shape, colour, and alignment issues, significantly improving the overall look of your smile. This solution can be used to fix a specific problem, or to address multiple issues at once with a single treatment.
Below, you’ll find the two types of veneers offered at Dr. Côté Cosmetic Dentistry.
Concerns That Veneers Can Address
Worn or discoloured teeth
Improve the appearance of teeth that look aged or yellowed due to enamel wear.
Mildly misaligned teeth
Cover teeth that are slightly crooked or improperly aligned.
Noticeable gaps between teeth
Close unwanted spaces that affect the look of your smile.
Irregularly shaped teeth
Improve the contour and uniformity of twisted or uneven teeth.
Is Everyone a Candidate for Veneers?
Teeth must be in excellent health before veneers can be placed. That’s an important consideration when exploring this aesthetic option. In other words, any existing issues such as cavities must be treated first—otherwise the problem can spread beneath the veneer. If needed, our team will guide you through the appropriate treatments to restore your teeth and gums before focusing on cosmetic improvements.

Two Types of Veneers to Suit Your Needs
CEREC Ceramic Veneers
- Made using a digital scan of your teeth
- The ceramic shells are precision-milled by the CEREC system
- A thin layer of enamel must be removed to create space for the veneers
- Ceramic mimics the colour and shine of natural teeth beautifully
- A long-lasting, stain- and break-resistant option
- Since tooth preparation is required, this is a non-reversible treatment

Composite Veneers
- Composite resin is applied and sculpted directly on the teeth
- No tooth preparation is necessary
- Composite veneers are reversible and can be removed if needed
- They are more prone to staining or chipping and are less durable overall
- However, they can be repaired if damaged
