What Is Traditional Orthodontics?
Traditional orthodontics uses fixed braces, composed of metal or ceramic brackets attached to each tooth, connected by an archwire. Together, these components apply gentle, continuous pressure to gradually shift the teeth into their ideal positions. This method is especially effective for complex alignment or bite issues (malocclusions).
Problems Traditional Braces Can Correct
Tooth crowding
When teeth overlap, it can affect your smile’s appearance and oral hygiene
Excessive spacing
Braces can close noticeable gaps between teeth
Malocclusions
Braces address issues like overbite (supraclusion) or underbite (sous-occlusion)
General misalignment
Crooked or rotated teeth can be repositioned for a straighter, healthier smile
Benefits of Traditional Orthodontics
- Proven effectiveness: deal for treating complex cases that may not be suitable for aligners
- Long-lasting results: With proper retention, outcomes can last a lifetime
- Aesthetic options available: Ceramic brackets and discreet wires can reduce the visibility of the appliance

Steps of Orthodontic Treatment
Initial Consultation
Our dentists conduct a clinical exam and take x-rays to evaluate your orthodontic needs. We’ll explain your treatment options and answer your questions.

Placement of Braces
Once your plan is finalized, brackets are bonded to your teeth, and the archwire is placed to begin the alignment process.
Regular Check-Ups
Appointments are scheduled every 4 to 6 weeks to adjust the wires and track your
progress. These visits help ensure the treatment is comfortable and effective.

End of Treatment
When your teeth are fully aligned, the braces are removed. A retainer, either fixed or removable, is provided to maintain your results.
Who Can Benefit from This Treatment?
Traditional orthodontics is suitable for most teens and adults. However, gum health and bone support must be evaluated before treatment begins. Our dentists will guide you in choosing the right approach for your situation.
