What Is a Dental Crown?
A crown is a cap-shaped restoration that fully covers a damaged or weakened tooth. It strengthens the tooth, restores its function, and improves its appearance. Crowns are made from high-quality materials such as ceramic or zirconia and are carefully crafted to match the colour and texture of your natural teeth.
Common reasons for a crown include:
- Protecting a tooth weakened by a large cavity or filling
- Restoring a cracked or broken tooth
- Covering a discoloured or misshapen tooth
- Protecting a tooth after root canal treatment
What Is a Dental Bridge?
A bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth. It consists of artificial teeth (pontics) held in place by crowns attached to the adjacent natural teeth (called abutment teeth).
A bridge helps to:
- Restore the aesthetics of your smile
- Prevent neighbouring teeth from shifting into the gap
- Maintain proper chewing and speaking function
- Support overall jaw alignment and facial structure

The Crown and Bridge Procedure
Consultation and Treatment Planning
During your first visit, we examine your teeth, take x-rays or digital impressions, and discuss the best options for your situation.

Tooth Preparation
For a crown, a thin layer of enamel is removed to make space for the restoration. For a bridge, the teeth adjacent to the gap are prepared similarly.
Restoration Design and Fabrication
We take impressions or use digital scanning to create a custom crown or bridge. A temporary restoration may be placed while the final one is being made. If CEREC technology is used, your final restoration may be designed and placed in one visit.

Final Placement
The custom restoration is securely cemented in place, and we ensure the fit, comfort, and appearance are perfect.
